At GMCC, home of Minnesota FoodShare, we strive to show up for our communities when and how they need us most.
Late December, in collaboration with Sanctuary Supply Depot, Council Member Jason Chavez, and Food Connects Group, we packed and delivered free groceries to 114 families experiencing food insecurity due to conditions that make it unsafe for some community members to leave their homes. This included families who are involved in our youth program, recovery clients, and participants who have connected with our resource navigators in the past. We are continuing this effort through the first few weeks of January.
“You were able to make my dreams come true. We were able to help so many people so quickly because of GMCC’s help!”
– Naomi, Sanctuary Supply Depot Organizer

Each grocery bag contained eggs, cereal, milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, oil, and snacks.
Thank you to everyone that was involved with making this happen, especially GMCC Program Manager Jules Strautman and the rest of the team who worked hard to connect with families, receive food deliveries, and pack grocery bags. We couldn’t do this great work without our wonderful staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.
